This photograph shows the sun trailing across the sky from sunrise to sunset over downtown Auckland on 7 September 1993. It is a triple exposure on a single frame of film made with a fisheye lens mounted on a purpose-built camera constructed by Max Osborne (at that time a member of the photographic staff). The first and last exposures recorded the morning and evening twilights and city lights, while the second exposure was a heavily filtered all-day time exposure of the trailing sun. (The un-trailed image of the moon was recorded during the dawn twilight exposure.)SuNsHinE
